  • dialogue with colleagues from across disciplines;
  • engage in informed and constructive conversations related to the complexities of teaching and learning; and
  • share strategies and insights that increase teaching and learning effectiveness.

Esports (the competitive play of video games) is big business and part of youth culture. Colleges and universities are taking notice! You might be surprised to know that programs are integrating esports in health, engineering, business, liberal arts, visual arts, and other departments. We all know that when we talk about topics that interest students, engagement goes up, as does their understanding of the concepts. Can esports fit in your course? Students interested in esports already have an online community so let’s also look to how we can join them there.

Session Objectives
Through participation in this session, participants will
  • learn about esports
  • recognize opportunities to integrate esports into courses (lots of class/project ideas)
  • consider Discord as a communication tool.
