  • engage in informed and constructive conversations related to the complexities of teaching and learning; and
  • share strategies and insights that increase teaching and learning effectiveness.

Online courses are often characterized by a feeling of disconnect for both students and faculty. And research from spring 2020 shows that students learning remotely felt very disconnected. Yet, we know that feeling connected to the people in our classes can help students engage, persist, and learn in any context. This talk offers practical strategies to strengthen students’ social and cognitive connections, which improve online teaching and learning experiences for all.
